The entrepreneurial projects 'Sensacultivo' and 'Calzados Herce' have been the winners of the 'Andalusia Emprende Huelva Awards', for their technological innovation, their internationalization potential and the diversification of their activity within the province's entrepreneurial ecosystem. These two companies from Huelva have been recognized, respectively, in the categories 'Crea', for young companies with less than three years of life, and 'Consolida', for companies with more than three years of life, in the first edition of these awards with a 100% digital format, which the Ministry of Employment, Training and Self-Employment, through Andalucía Emprende, has celebrated through the first television channel for entrepreneurs and freelancers in Spain, Empezar.tv.

As a novelty, six recognitions have also been given to Huelva companies and entities to highlight their work and solidarity during the first declaration of a state of alarm, at the service of entities, groups, hospitals, companies and citizens in general.

The territorial delegate for Employment, Training and Self-Employment, Antonio Augustín, has underlined "the importance of these awards that identify, revalue and support innovative companies, especially in these times of crisis and complications, while at the same time they turn out to be a stimulus for any enterprising person from our land, highlighting their creative ideas, their courage and their enthusiastic capacity, embodied in the two winning applications and in each of the 28 applications submitted to this year's call in Huelva, to which are added the initiatives presented and awarded throughout Andalusia”.

Sensacultivo, housed at CADE in Huelva, is a technology company from Moguer that develops its activity in the AgroTech sector (technology applied to agriculture). It offers farmers and professionals in the sector a decision-making support service for efficient management of their crops, allowing them to save water and fertilizers.

Calzados Herce, from Valverde del Camino, is a company dedicated to the production and marketing of high-quality footwear, characterized by its great adaptation to the times, needs and consumer trends of the market. With the official declaration of the state of alarm caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which caused the suspension of its main activity, this company was altruistically making hygienic masks and gowns.

Both companies have competed with the ten finalists of this edition, to which 28 applications have been submitted in the province of Huelva and both will be present at the regional award, which will be held on December 10, at 12:00 p.m. where they will compete with the two winning projects from the other Andalusian provinces (16 finalists), to win the Andalusian award.

The director of Andalucía Emprende, Rosa Siles, today delivered the six special awards that have been incorporated as a novelty in the innovative digital edition of these awards, to "recognize exceptional people and entities, who have taken a step forward in a moment exceptional, with the sole purpose of helping others”, as he has stated. They have been the following:

The Business Activity recognition, intended for charitable business projects that have contributed to the fight against COVID-19, has gone to 'Snell Cuenca Minera, S.L', a local telecommunications operator created in 2016 by two young entrepreneurs from Nerva , for having donated 10,000 face protection screens to hospitals, primary care and residential centers in the province of Huelva and to the security forces, and for having distributed 6,000 children's masks in the educational centers of the towns where they operate. Miguel González, founding partner and administrator, has collected the recognition.

The recognition of Business Reorientation, intended for companies and self-employed workers who have reinvented themselves in their activity during the state of alarm, has gone to José Sánchez Segovia, radiophysicist, professor at the University of Huelva and former head of the Radiophysics Service of the Juan Ramón Jiménez Hospital, for having led the team at the University of Huelva that has designed the 'RES(UHU)RGE' respirator, which has special characteristics that make it more effective in situations of respiratory distress.

The Self-Employed recognition, intended for projects with social and economic impact led by self-employed people during the state of alarm, has gone to 'Restaurante El Trocadero', a well-known business in Valverde del Camino, for having set up a food truck with food and free drink 24 hours a day so that truckers, security forces, health workers and whoever needed it could recharge batteries during the state of alarm. He has received the José Mª Fernández award.

The Social Economy recognition, intended for projects in this important sector created during the state of alarm, has gone to the 'Residential Center for the Elderly Persons of Cartaya' cooperative, for having intensified the protection of the elderly by adopting additional measures to those of the health authorities, such as the permanent awareness and information of its workers, residents and family members, and for the collaboration with the health district, establishing mechanisms for dialogue and teamwork. The work carried out by this cooperative, whose motto is "Always ahead", for the prevention and protection of the elderly has been an absolute success, it has meant that they have not had any positive cases to date. The president of the Cartaya Residential Center for the Elderly, María Jesús Castillo, and its director, Pilar Fernández, received the award.

The Young Promise recognition, intended for projects led by young Andalusian talents, has gone to 'Tepido3D', a company dedicated to 3D scanning, prototyping, printing, design and orientation, for having led a movement of makers in the province of Huelva to 3D printing of masks, screens and various respirator components to send to hospitals and alleviate material shortages in the initial moments of the pandemic. They did it organized through a Telegram group, which reached more than 90 members and managed to add other companies and groups in the province, such as the Provincial Association of Pharmacists, and have donated up to 10,000 units. Francisco Javier Granado, founding partner and administrator, has collected the recognition.

Finally, the Women in Business recognition, intended for projects with social and economic impact led by women during the state of alarm, went to Carmen Vega Bernal, a renowned Flemish designer from Ayamonte who during the first moments of the pandemic suspended her activity and He devoted himself to making masks, involving his entire family in this activity. An initiative that she developed in her workshop to provide this essential element of protection to all the people of the town, which she was able to acquire for free in supermarkets.

This new edition of the 'Andalusia Emprende Awards' is one of the 15 initiatives that will be broadcast through 'Empezar.tv', the first multi-format streaming channel in Spain, promoted by the Ministry of Employment and coordinated by Andalucía Emprende, to inspire, guide, encourage and inform entrepreneurs, freelancers and SMEs.
