The prices of the 0Km doubled in the year: this is the 10 cheapest cars for the blue dollar today

To buy a 0K car in the current market, you must have at least $2,000,000. That is the value of the cheapest models in the entry-level segment, with basic equipment, since if you are looking for some "luxury", you have to add at least 500,000 pesos.

As seen in the official price lists for December, all models were adjusted between 2 and 5%. In addition, many took the opportunity to free themselves from the ceiling of the internal tax that until November was $3,100,000, and which has now increased to 3,400,000 pesos.

Compared to January of this year, the increase is abrupt: the cheapest barely exceeded $1 million, as is the case of Fiat Mobi, Toyota Etios and Volkswagen Gol, among others, while today they exceed 2 million pesos. In addition, an unprecedented fact is that many of the small vehicles were left this year on the verge of the luxury tax, an unthinkable situation when this tribute was increased and unfolded in 2014, in order to limit the sale of high-end cars.

But this is not all. It is also added that many of these cheaper products are not available in the local market, especially because they are imported from Brazil and today there are several obstacles for them to enter the country. As a consequence, in some cases, the brands decided to discontinue them to give priority to other models that are more profitable and in demand, as happened with Renault Kwid, the cheapest car of the diamond brand, which disappeared from dealerships; while Ford, due to another commercial policy, stopped selling the Ka.

In this context, we review the prices of the 10 cheapest cars in December, which are available at dealerships and which are sold only by savings plan. Also, if these models are not found, which ones do the brands propose as a replacement?

the top ten

The ranking of the cheapest cars on the market changed throughout the year due to discontinued models or new players. In this sense, the highlights are some models produced in the country and others imported from Brazil.

toyota etios

To think about accessing a cheap model in Argentina, the cheapest option starts with the model that was born from the hands of Toyota in 2014, the Etios. This has a range entry value of $1,905,000, which is equivalent to $9,570 at the blue exchange rate. As a fact to keep in mind, it is for sale at dealerships but you have to wait for it, at least, about 90 days.

Additionally, it should be noted that this model is offered with both hatch and sedan bodies, it even has a version that is prepared to adapt to CNG. As for the type of range, the value of the most equipped version reaches 2,448,000 pesos.

Fiat Mobile

Fiat Mobi, one of the cheapest.

The second cheapest model in the top ten is the Fiat Mobi, which starts at $1,965,300. This implies that if you have the bills in dollars, you will have to pay about $9,875. On the other hand, for those looking for the top of the range, the value amounts to 2,058,500 pesos.

Beyond the prices, one thing to keep in mind is that this model is not available for direct sale, but rather the brand offers it only as a savings plan, the same thing that happens with the Argo, another small Fiat vehicle, both imported from Brazil.

Instead, the carmaker of the Stellantis group carried out an intense campaign to position the Cronos as an option, which is also among the cheapest and all versions are available because it is manufactured in the country.

Chevrolet Onix Joy

Chevrolet Onix Joy, another of the cheapest.

The third place among the cheapest cars in the country in December went to Chevrolet, with the Joy, which starts at $2,019,900 or $10,500 at the parallel exchange rate. As if to make a comparison, in January it was $1,170,000 or $7,500.

This model produced in Brazil is the economic option of the Onix, that is why it is differentiated with the name Joy. It is also offered with and without a trunk, as an option for those looking for a small model with more cargo space. For those who choose the most complete version, the full Onix reaches a value of 3,342,900 pesos (it is at the limit of the internal tax).

volkswagen golf

Volkswagen Gol, another of the cheapest.

The classic Volkswagen Gol is still valid and today it is another of the cheapest and best-selling cars in the country, with a price that starts at $2,020,850 or $10,155 parallel dollars. With a long history, it remains firm in dealerships while the brand chose to discontinue the Up!, another of the cheapest, to continue betting on the old acquaintance.

It is currently offered in two versions with a difference of 100,000 pesos. As if to have a price reference, last January the value of this model was 1,157,000 pesos.

fiat cronos

The best-selling model in the total market, which will be the leader in 2021, starts its offer with a model worth $2,058,600 or $10,344 at the blue exchange rate. It is one of the cheapest in the top ten since an entry-level version was included. As we mentioned, it managed to quickly position itself based on the limitations on imports, which forced the brand to bet on "the Argentine car", which gave good results.

One thing to note is that there is stock, and there are practically no surcharges, with several versions to choose from.

As for the most complete version of Cronos, the price is 2,850,900 pesos.

Renault Sandero and Logan

These models manufactured in Córdoba are currently some of the cheapest. The first starts at $2,120,000 or $10,653, while the second, which is the option with a trunk, is priced at 2,164,700 pesos, that is, 10,877 pesos. Dollars.

These models remained in the market as the cheapest options of the brand, since the Kwid was discontinued. The most complete version of Sandero is priced at 2,478,100 pesos. In addition, there is availability because they are manufactured in the country.

Citroen C3

The Citroën C3 is another of the cheap cars, although it is only sold as a savings plan. Pricing starts at $2,243,100, or $11,270, and is available to those who have already subscribed to a plan. In addition, the brand is preparing the launch of the totally renewed model.

The most equipped comes out at 2,743,400 pesos.

peugeot 208

The Peugeot 208 enters the ranking with the cheapest version, the Like, which is sold by savings plan. It is the Like 1.2L, which has a value of $2,309,000, that is, $11.00 at the blue exchange rate.

As for the most equipped version, it is the Tiptronic 1.6L at 3,314,500 pesos.

nissan versa

The ranking is completed by the Nissan Versa, imported from Mexico, starting at $2,339,000, that is, $11,700 at the parallel exchange rate.

The cheapest, which was the V-Drive, stopped selling several months ago.

With these values, the savings of Argentines to reach a 0Km contemplate more and more months, being very difficult to reach a unit, which also have many surcharges. On the other hand, the cost of patenting, freight and form is not considered in the list value.

Another important issue is maintenance costs, which have also increased, and today any small car demands about $30,000 per month to keep it in the garage and use it for only about 50 kilometers per day on average.

claims

In this scenario, the dealers once again demanded from the Government a greater release of imports so that the sector can grow. "In the last two months only between nine and ten thousand SIMIS have been released, for the entire industry, we believe that 15,000 per month could have been released since we are going to end the year with only approximately 1,130 million dollars of annual deficit of the sector It is a number that, if it is distributed in twelve months, is not significant, especially if we take into account that the demand has been very strong", said the president of the Association of Dealers of the Argentine Republic -ACARA-, Ricardo Salomé.

November patents marked a growth of just 1 percent compared to what happened in October (28,085) and allowed reaching an annual cumulative of 363,931 units. This means that in the eleven months of this year the sector grew by 13.1 percent against 2020, a year marked by the closures caused by the pandemic.

"In this way, we are going to close the year scratching the 380,000 patented vehicles, but with the frustration that we could have patented 450,000 units", declared Salomé. At the beginning of the year, the dealers projected that last number, but the situation forced them to lower their aspirations.
