The former CEO of Barreras was drugged with liquid ecstasy and stolen by two criminals at the Palace Hotel.

The death of José Ismael Rosado, the businessman and former CEO of the company of the Vigo Barreras shipyard, was not an accident nor was it due to natural causes. The National Police arrested two people for the murder of the 43-year-old man, who was found lifeless in a room at the Palace Hotel in Madrid on 30 October last, during the Todos los Santos bridge.

The night of the crime the security cameras of the luxurious establishment recorded how the victim entered the hotel along with two men, a 39-year-old Romanian citizen and a 29-year-old Moroccan boy. Both were arrested on 23 December and the judge has sent them to prison, accused of murder, robbery with violence and fraud.

Pulmonary edema

According to the investigations of Group V of homicide of the Provincial Brigade of Madrid, the detainees accompanied the executive, of Puerto Rican origin, to room 541. Once there, as the autopsy and Toxicology analysis revealed, he was given "large amounts" of GHB or liquid ecstasy, mixed with "high doses of alcohol", probably to "numb" him or "annul his will" for the purpose of stealing from him, but the victim ended up suffering from a pulmonary edema and died.

They then took advantage of the money they had on him, his credit card and other valuables, and then fled the hotel, leaving the dead body of the businessman there. The Palace employees, alerted by the executive's family, who failed to contact him, found his body two days later.

Shopping with the victim's card

Police have discovered that, after the crime, the two men purchased the deceased's card from two shops in the south of Madrid, specifically in Móstoles. During home searches, the officers recovered 2,500 euros in cash, jewelry, state-of-the-art mobile phones and several tablets that might belong to the deceased businessman or other victims of their robberies, in addition to the clothes the alleged killers were wearing on the night the businessman was killed.

The officers of the Central District Police Station have found out that one of those arrested, the 29-year-old, who has a record of robbery with violence, fraud, robbery with force, unlawful association and usurpation of functions, is also the author of two other robberies for chemical submission that took place in the centre of Madrid.

Background

The first was allegedly perpetrated last summer, in July; the other occurred in early December, just a month after the crime at the Palace Hotel. In both cases, the detainee drugged his victims with GHB before removing their belongings, as he would have done with the businessman.

The other defendant is given a record of robbery with violence, offences against public health and reception (buying something knowing that it has been stolen).

On Telegram, with the Burundi

GHB or liquid ecstasy is a designer drug that, in high quantities and consumed with alcohol, can be very dangerous to health, causing heart problems, loss of consciousness and even death.

It comes to our country from Central Europe and is sold mainly on the Internet, according to police sources in the fight against drugs. They have even detected Telegram groups offering GHB or burundanga, another of the substances used in cases of chemical submission.

The drug of rapists and thieves

The use of liquid ecstasy, which has a vasodilating and relaxing effect, has grown in our country, especially in certain gay circles and in the field of male prostitution, these same sources warn.

Along with scopolamine or Burundi, GHB is also the drug most used to achieve chemical submission, the one preferred by rapists and thieves who want to nullify the will of their victims before attacking them.
