It was within the framework of the detection of criminal organizations dedicated to the commission of transnational crimes, that the Organized Crime Investigative Brigade of the Investigative Police (PDI) discovered -at the end of 2017- a criminal network dedicated to the internment of species of illicit origin, specifically jewelry and watches.
Through long hours of wiretapping, it was possible to identify one of the main recipients of these high-value species: Estrella Denmark Sánchez, a well-known jeweler from downtown Santiago.
The investigation, for the crimes of money laundering, reception and smuggling, is led by the chief prosecutor of the Pudahuel Local Prosecutor's Office, Eduardo Baeza, and adds twenty investigated. Star is not alone. And it is that, as a series of intrusive measures were authorized, such as wiretapping, a series of names linked to it appeared.
One of them is Domingo Jalil Allel. The role of Jalil, according to documents to which Radio Bío Bío had access, is key. He is the one who "lends money and covers the checks" to Estrella, according to a PDI report. The foregoing, with a "percentage of interest, depending on the amount and the days of delay in covering the checks - by Denmark Sánchez -, money obtained from the sale of jewelry and species of value product of robberies carried out abroad " .
Another of Estrella's partners is Jaime Quiroz Jara, who is accused of being "one of the operating arms" of the jeweler. In a police assessment it is stated that both "are partners in the illicit business of buying and selling jewelry and stolen goods." Estrella, Quiroz and Jalil - the accusation maintains - are related to gangs dedicated to the theft of luxurious species of value abroad and acquire said objects to later resell the jewelry and watches. One of those potential buyers is Marco Antonio López Spagui, better known as Parived.
According to what emerges from the investigation, the way Estrella and his crime partners operate is as follows: the gangs that are dedicated to the theft of high-value species abroad, once the crimes have been committed, send the luxurious goods through different routes. objects to Chile. Already on national soil, these are sold to recipients for amounts much lower than their original price. One of the recipients is Estrella.
Parived and Khalil
Not a minor piece of information in the background of the Baeza prosecutor's investigation is the "alleged" friendship between Marco Antonio López Spagui and Domingo Jalil. The latter, a patron of the network dedicated to the commercialization of high-value jewelry and watches obtained illegally.
The thesis of the "alleged" link between the two is based on wiretaps and meetings between the two that were closely followed by the PDI for months. According to background information in the case, which was accessed by Radio Bío Bío, on February 20, 2020, Parived and Jalil met in a cafe in the Vitacura district at 9:30 in the morning.
The surveillance report of the PDI, after said meeting, indicates that Parived and Jalil "remained inside the premises, having breakfast and apparently talking about different topics, among which it was possible to observe that they were reviewing accounts and checks, writing down serial numbers. and bills, to retire at 11 o'clock”.
Regarding wiretaps, on May 13, 2019, at around 12 noon, Parived called Domingo. The transcript reads as follows: “Parived calls Domingo on the phone and tells him that he has a 'round and armed' business, for which he needs '20 sticks', since on the other side he doubles immediately. That he will be paid soon because he is ready. It is about a ring of which he will send you photos”.
That same day, during the afternoon, López Spagui communicated again. The transcript reads: “Parived calls Domingo to insist that he assure him that he is going to give him the money he needs to be able to buy 'the stone,' and tells him that if he does not call him he will bother him again, because he needs to close the deal today” .
Another example of this alleged "nexus" is that on August 13, 2019, Parived went to Domingo's store, located in Unión Latinoamericana, a commune of Estación Central. As a result of that meeting, the PDI appreciates that "it can be inferred that there is some degree of friendship between Domingo Jalil and Marco Antonio López Spagui."
On September 2, 2019, Domingo Jalil received a call from “Leo”. The latter, according to details of the investigation, tells him that a Parived check was bad. Domingo corrects him and tells him that Parived's document is another.
After this conversation, the PDI interprets that "Domingo Jalil was the direct contact with Marco Antonio López, alias Parived, who acquires high-value jewelry and watches from the criminal group, having Domingo in his possession checks delivered by Parived". But he would not be the only one.

Meeting at the Sheraton and Huérfanos Street
If Parived would have a link with Domingo Jalil, there are those who have them with Jaime Quiroz. The intrusive measures authorized by the court have allowed prosecutor Baeza to get to know other alleged buyers of jewelry and watches of illicit origin.
Two of them, according to the investigation, were discovered through a wiretap on February 12, 2020. That summer day, Jaime Quiroz confessed to his partner, "Angy", that he would have a meeting at the Sheraton Hotel, in Providence commune. That information gave rise to investigative officers moved to the place to carry out surveillance tasks.
Despite the fact that police officers appeared at the scene, they could only verify Quiroz's departure from the hotel, so coordination was carried out to access the camera records. In the images, according to the investigation, Jaime Quiroz was seen together with two unknown subjects.
"These subjects, meet in the hotel lobby, for a few minutes, observing that Jaime makes the gesture of delivering a species to one of these subjects, specifically the one who wears optical glasses, who only shakes hands with one from his pockets, deducing that he keeps said species, later retiring”, states the report.
After subsequent reconnaissance analyses, Quiroz's companions were identified: Waldo Rojas Soto - Natalia Compagnon's uncle - and Rodrigo Rieloff Fuentes, a lawyer who is a member of the Santiago Court of Appeals.
Rieloff's identity, according to the investigation, is "supported" by an intercepted wiretap between Estrella Denmark and Jaime Quiroz dated February 20, 2020. In it, the latter "alludes to him that he is selling to a Minister of the Court of Appeals, adding that the other day he sold (to the minister), making the payment by means of a check”, states a report.
Another encounter took place months later. Around 1 p.m. on June 25, 2020, Jaime Quiroz, one of Estrella's "operational arms", met with three people: an unidentified person, Waldo Rojas Soto and Rodrigo Rieloff Fuentes.
All this happened in the commune of Santiago, specifically on Huérfanos street in front of number 626. That day the PDI knew that Quiroz "would hold a business meeting where species of dubious origin, such as jewelry and watches, could be involved." .
At that point in the investigation, the PDI and the prosecution had to be even more cautious. The reason? Information about the case was leaked, then reserved. Given the seriousness of this situation, "a surveillance device was set up outside Jaime Quiroz's home," the file states. The wait had its benefits.
When the police officers learned that one of the people was Rieloff, they toured the place and, not finding him, went to his home to take a statement as a defendant, as instructed by the prosecutor in charge.
Rieloff declared: “To begin with, I must point out that I have been the legal director of the Municipality of Providencia for four years to date” and adds that “I must point out that I do not know Jaime Quiroz Jara, whose name I do not even know, nor have I purchased some item of jewelry, which the aforementioned could sell.
When asked about the routine of that day, he stated: “I realize that during the morning and at noon, I met in the center, specifically in Huérfanos street with Miraflores, where I spent about two hours with Waldo Rojas, carrying out different personal procedures. , to finally go shopping and finally come to my home”.
But after the statement ended, according to the background information that Radio Bío Bío had access to, the lawyer from the Santiago Court of Appeals spoke with Rojas. Rieloff tells him that he needs to talk to him but personally, "but it's a very tangential issue" and that "it's more or less urgent and I hope they get together but in a place "x" distant and that he doesn't go there".
The police report established that "Rodrigo is scared and needs to inform Waldo of what happened, knowing that he is Jaime Quiroz Jara's partner in crime."
