What a start to the year Doña Letizia had prepared for us. This January 6, the King and Queen of Spain have started their institutional agenda with the traditional Military Easter, in which His Majesty's jewels have become protagonists twice. Firstly because of the new earring that adorns her left ear, and which means that during these days that we have not seen her the Queen has pierced her earlobe, and secondly because of a small mishap she has suffered with the brooch that she was wearing decorating her premiere dress. Let's start with the important. In the year in which Doña Letizia is going to turn half a century, she has decided to take a step that is less surprising. And it is that she has had a piercing in her ear that she has adorned with a small silver ball, which shone together with the earrings chosen for the occasion: a ring-shaped Bulgari design, made of white gold, diamonds and aquamarines. Without a doubt, and although the years go by, the Queen has not lost that ability to always leave us with our mouths open, as has happened in this Military Easter.
Let's move on to the other jewel that the Queen wore and with which she has had a small mishap. Upon arriving at the parade ground of the Royal Palace, Doña Letizia wore a black leather bolero over her blue dress that she has had since 2008 and that comes in handy when temperatures are low. Well, when she got up on the rostrum before the military act began, Her Majesty has put on her jacket well and the brooch that she was wearing on it has fallen off. It has been Don Felipe who has realized this mishap, and has bent down to give Doña Letizia her brooch back.
She has kept it in her hand throughout the ceremony and -now without cameras-, on the way to the throne room, where the most institutional act took place, with a speech by the Minister of Defense and the King included, she already wore it pinned to the dress, as if nothing had happened. The piece in question is one of the most important jewels of the Bourbons, since it belongs to the lot to pass. As described by Queen Victoria Eugenie in her will, it is "a brooch with a large pale gray pearl surrounded by diamonds and from which hangs a pear-shaped pearl." Doña Letizia wore it for the first time at the 2019 Military Easter.
And now it's the turn of the dress, which has been left in the background due to the piercing and the brooch, but which also deserves a mention, since it is a premiere. The first of the Queen in this 2022, which makes us predict that it will be a good year in terms of costumes. This is a navy blue dress with a V-neckline finished with buttons at the front, a bow at the waist, long sleeves and a full skirt. A regal design ideal for this type of act to which she has managed to give a more glam touch with her choice of jewelry. At the moment, it is unknown who signs this premiere of the Queen, which we hope will be the first of many.
